    Abstract
    Coastal character assessment informs and guides coastal and marine planning, and individual development proposals, by informing landscape/seascape and visual impact assessments. This guidance presents the methodology on how to undertake coastal character assessment to provide baseline information that complements terrestrial landscape character assessment in Scotland.
