The OGC Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) architecture (OGC, 2008c) defines a conceptual approach
to build a Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) for sensor data. This architecture provides the conceptual
foundation and standard framework of the work presented in this document.
In addition to the OGC SWE architecture, the present recommendations and tools rely upon the architectural
work that has been carried out in a series of European research projects and submitted to OGC
as best-practices work follows:
-- Reference Model of the ORCHESTRA Architecture (RM-OA) (OGC, 2007c), accepted as OGC
best-practices paper in 2007, that instantiated and tailored the OGC Reference Model for the
domain of environmental risk management following the ISO Reference Model for Open Distributed
Processing (RM-ODP) (ISO/IEC 10746-1:1998), and
-- the Sensor Service Architecture (SensorSA) (OGC, 2009d), accepted as OGC discussion paper
in 2009, that extended the RM-OA towards a sensor-based environment fo.....
